part 1 - Reducing the SIZE OF YOUR PHOTO.

Select the photograph you would like to upload to your gallery or to use in a post.

You will want to reduce the size of your picture to 480px wide (for a horizontal) or 480px high (for a vertical) picture.

You will also have to reduce the file size of your picture to (maximum allowed file size) of 250kb.

If you are a more advanced user you may have one of the many commercial programs such as Photoshop, ACDSee, Photo Plus etc. More advanced users will know how to resize with one of these programs.

However, if you are not, you may want to do as I do, go and get a re-sizing program such as “Photo Resizer Free” or "Photo Resizer Pro” found at http://www.showyourphotos.com/features.html (the free program is all you need for this application). Install the program and follow the four easy steps…

"Photo Resizer Free" is very easy to use:

For example if my original was a horizontal picture at 2608 by 1952 and 3.2Mb.

In Photo Resizer
I changed the horizontal size to 480px *
I changed the compression to 90%
I hit the re-size button, and end up with a file that is 480 by 369 and about 122kb.
* If the picture is a vertical, change that diminution to 480px

Now you are ready to upload your picture(s) to your personal album

part 2 - Adding a Photo to your USER GALLERY.

From our Home Page

Select HP945.com User Galleries (HP 850 Welcome)

Then be sure you are logged on (if not do so}

If on the top of the page you see ...

“Album list” “Register” “Login”
You are not logged in
Login

If on the top of the page you see

“Album list” “My gallery” “User mode” “Upload picture” “Logout [username]
Then you are logged in and may precede

Now you will see

“Create/order my albums” Modify my albums” “My profile”

Select “Create/order my albums” and create an album if you have not yet done so

Select New

Then highlight “New Album” and
enter the [album name] in the strip at the bottom
Click apply modifications

Now you are ready to add pictures by using the Upload picture button at any time .

Click upload picture from the top of ANY album page

Select album

You will have your Album(s) listed plus any root albums available to you i.e.: now you may see Valentines Day 2005, these root albums are for special events, …

Then browse to find your picture on YOUR system…
Double Click the file name when you find it. You can only upload one file at a time…
Fill in the rest of the data.
Then click [Upload Picture]
If you get the message

“No picture was uploaded!”
“If you have really selected a picture to upload, check that the server allows file uploads...”

DON’T PANIC! it just means your picture DOES NOT fit the size criteria and you will have to resize (be sure to resize from the original)

Repeat the upload procedure for all your pictures

Now your picture(s) are uploaded.

part 3 - Adding a Photo to your POST.

Now to add your picture to your post

In your album click the picture you want to use in your post

When it is loaded…

Right-click on it and choose "Properties".
Select the URL (triple-click OR right-click and choose "Select All").
Right-click the highlighted address and choose "Copy".

You can now navigate back to your post.

At the point where you want to insert your photo click the [IMG] button at the top of the window

Then paste the (URL) you copied,

Then click the [img*] button again, and continue on with your post.

it should look like this

[img.]http://www.hp945.com/galleries/albums/userpics ........[/img]

You won’t see the image until you preview your post…

Then continue to compose your post, If you have another picture to add just repeat this procedure.

Preview your post and make any changes necessary.

When you are satisfied [Submit] your post.

It is much easier to do, than to write about it.
